Štoky-1

Name: Štoky
Location: Humpolec
Client: Bernard Brewery
Cooperation: Kateřina Fryzelková
Study: 2017

The design submitted for the competition of tenders for the construction of restaurant “Štoky” in the heart of Bernard Brewery, in the area of original installation of wort cooling cisterns, by its atmosphere, overall solution and details refers to the original use of the area. At the same time, it avails itself of brewing-related materials, such as copper and stainless steel and, not least, the wealth of colours derived from the graphic style of Bernard Brewery.
The generous space of the loft with its exposed roof timbers is preserved and promoted. In this area the shapes of cooling cisterns themselves are captured in its floor and the rounded corners of original cooling cisterns reflect themselves in the forms of the bar, chairs, tables and other pieces of furniture. In the interior the wooden louvres serving for ventilating the space and cisterns with fresh air are used for controlling both sunlight and artificial lighting to make the space more intimate, while preserving the existing views of surroundings at the same time.
Differentiation of cistern shapes by colours in the floor made in red derives itself from the graphic style of Bernard Brewery that relies also on both the green colour and the font used for identification of tables as well as for the restaurant name written on the front side of the bar.
The design was not selected for implementation.
