First, the rental flat in Karlin (a quarter of Prague) ties with the house whose part it forms. Therefore, the flat entry makes possible a seamless passage from the common area to the private one.
Simple solution of the area makes use of the given space; the flat has been designed with the view to providing an individual or a pair with comfortable living near the city centre. The flat has been made brighter and more open through a change in its layout. The kitchen area, insufficient for its original purpose, now appears quite sufficient to house both the bathroom and the small locker area of the bedroom. In this way the kitchen newly becomes a part of the main dwelling area, being connected also with a working corner and, owing to the application of the generous sliding door, with the bedroom, too. Storage spaces of adequate volume are available as well as a small multipurpose table that can be readily unfold to double its size – for instance for your meeting with friends.
The atmosphere of its interior unwinds from the use of classical materials such as terrazzo tiles of a smaller square format and wood as well as from their apparent high quality workmanship. The restrained material design allows the tenants to “personalize“ their living flat easily – for instance by means of paintings, as there is enough place left for their installation.
